Most of the distilleries in Campbeltown stand on the Northern side of the main street, though West Highland distillery stands on Argyll Street, the south side of the town. Andrew Montogomery and Archibald Andrew, the bank man of the town, founded it in 1830. We know that the distillery ran till 1852 but no one knows what happened after this. The distillery was completely closed in1860 and now the land is used for houses.
