If you drive up to the North on A96 from Aberdeen, the third biggest town in Scotland, you'll reach a small village called Colpy. The distillery stands in the corner, down a block to Skares Hill. Originally it was Nether Jericho Farm and in 1824, William Smith rebuilt it to Jericho distillery. After that the owner changed several times and the distillery was renamed to Benachie distillery, though it was closed in 1960. The buildings from those days are torn down but foundation and the walls where they once stood a kiln still remains. Climbing up the hill and comparing the scenery and the photo of those days and you can imagine the days when they distilled a beautiful spirits.
I'd like to thank Andrew Saunders and their family from the bottom of my heart for being very nice to us in spite of our sudden appearance.
