An hour a drive to the North from Inverness on A9 will take you to a town called Brora. The town is famous as a resort town by a northern sea. A distillery is at the west end of the town. It was established in 1819 by Stafford Clyneish later a first duke of Sutherland. The name is Clynelish but they built a new distillery in 1967 on the same site and the old one was renamed to Brora. They ran the distillery till 1983 for 14 years and it was closed. Now part of the structure still remains.

インバネスからA9を車で1時間ほど北上するとブローラという町がある。北海に面したリゾート地として有名。蒸留所は町のはずれの西側にある。1819年、後にサザーランドで最初の公爵となったスタッフフォード伯爵によって建てられた。蒸留所名はクライヌリッシュであるが、1967年に同じ敷地内に新しい蒸留所が建てられ、古い方がブローラと改められた。その後1983年まで14年間だけ創業され閉鎖された。現在、建物のほとんどが残っている。
