There's a town called Dingwall, about 15 miles away to the northeast from Inverness a capital of Highland. Ben Wyvis distillery was found in 1879 on the small hill near Cromarty bay a bit south from the town. It was a large scale distillery with steam powered engine and Alfred Barbard was impressed when he visited this place in 1887. The owner changed several times and in 1926 it was closed. The warehouse was used by SMD till the 1980s but now only the warehouse near the station remains and it is used as an office. The view of Ben Wyvis (1044m) form the town is a beauty.

ハイランドの首都インヴァーネスから15マイルほど北西にディングウォールという町がある。ベン・ウィヴィス蒸留所は1879年に町の少し南、クロマーティ湾近くの小さな丘に建てられた。大変大規模な蒸留所で強力な蒸気機関エンジンなどがあり、1887年に訪れたアルフレット・バーナードも感銘している。しかし蒸留所はその後いく度となく経営が変わり1926年に閉鎖された。貯蔵庫は1980年代までSMDによって使われていたが、今では駅近くにある貯蔵庫が残っていてオフィスなどに使われている。町から見えるベン・ウィヴィス(1044m)が美しい。
