You can find a village called Bridgend 2 miles away from Bowmore to the northeast. It is said that there used to be 2 distilleries in this area but not much documents that supports this story. Around 1766, Killarrow distillery was run by David Simpson who distinguished Bowmore distillery. Bridgend distillery was built by Donald McEachern Snr in 1818. After that, Donald McEachern junior managed the place but in 1821 it was closed. In 1822, J MacFarlane, the owner of Killarrow bought the distillery. There's another theory about this place; there used to be a distillery called Killarow and they changed the name to Bridgend in 1818. Some people say that Bridgend and Newton is the same distillery. Now days, you can see crowds of people with B & B, hotels and supermarkets in this village.

ボウモアの町から北東2マイルにBridgendという集落がある。ここに二つの蒸留所があったとされるが資料も少なく説もいくつかある。Killarrow蒸留所は1766年頃にはBowmore蒸留所を設立したDavid Simpsonによって運営されていた。Bridgend蒸留所は1818年Donald McEachern Snrにより設立。その後、Donald McEachern juniorによって運営されたが1821年頃には操業停止。1822年Killarrow のオーナーJ MacFarlaneにより買収。その他の説としてキラロウと呼ばれていた蒸留所が1818年頃からブリッジエンドと名前を変えたとも考えられている。又BridgendはNewtonと同一の説もある。現在この集落はB & Bやホテル、スーパーマーケットがあり賑わいを見せている。
