You'll find Tomdachoille distillery on the west side of Tummer River where it runs 2miles to the south from Pilochry. The area around the distillery is a peaceful hill with the Logierait Wood and Ballechin Wood. The distillery was founded and ran in 1816 by the Duffs who was a farmer. The duffs were working hard on whisky distilling and they owned other distilleries like Balnacraig, Gradtully, Logierait, Moulin, Tullymet in the farm of Perthshire. They owned the Todachoille distillery the most. In the last 1870's the small farmland distilleries were running hard because of the big distilleries and Tomdachoille was closed in 1878. After they closed the distillery, they started to sell milk to the neighbors in 1950's. Though the damage of the structures were serious. Now the owner Ian Buxton and his wife Lindasy started to remodel the distillery and they are giving a new life to the structure. In 2006 it will be reborned as a fabulous holiday cottage like Kilmaluag in Glen Barr of Kintyre and Octomore of Islay. You can enjoy your Pitlochry holiday with the taste of the Scotch whisky history.

トムダックイル蒸留所はピトロッホリーから2マイル南に行ったTummel川の西側にある。辺りはロジーレイトの森やバレキンの森に続くのどかな丘陵地。蒸留所は1816年農家であったDuff家によって設立され運営された。Duff家はたいへん熱心な蒸留者達でPerthshireの農場でバルナクレイグ、グランドテュリー、ロジーレイト、ムーリン、タリーメット等の蒸留所を同時に運営していたが、中でもトムダックイルが一番長く続いた。1870年代の後半にもなると、大規模の蒸留所の影響を受け小さな農場蒸留所は経営が厳しくなり、トムダックイルは1878年に閉鎖された。その後1950年代には近くの人々にミルクを提供する場となったが、その後は傷みが増していた。現在建物は所有者のIan Buxton氏とその妻Lindasyによって改築が始まり、新たな命が吹き込まれる。2006年にはアイラ島のオクトモアーやキンタイア半島のグレン・バーにあるKilmaluagのような素晴らしいホリディコテージとして生まれ変わり、スコッチウィスキーの歴史を味わいながらピトロッホリーの休日を楽しむことができる。
